The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is a two-week party where motorcyclists from all corners of the world roar to western South Dakota. Yes… it is everything they say it is. Great riding routes… TONS of people… all-night concerts… some people showing too much skin… successful bike builders doing business the right way. Huh? Which one of these doesn’t fit?
It was an honor for me to work with Brian and Laura Klock of KlockWerks Kustom Cycles at both Daytona Bike Week and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. KlockWerks is a family-owned business doing it the right way in the highly competitive motorcycle world.
I learned 3 keys to success by working with the Klocks:
1) Quality Product – “My friends all have this windshield and they swear by it. I want one too.” 9 times out of 10 this is how I was approached about the Flare Windshield. No selling skills required because the product sold itself.
2) Quality Team – With Brian and Laura busy with appearances and connecting with customers, they need a strong team to support them. This team is top notch. They not only operate as engaged employees, they operate as a family unit as well, supporting one another. Yes, sometimes they have words like family too but that’s what makes them stronger.
3) Think Bigger than Yourself – Helping with Horsepower is only one way KlockWerks is giving back to communities throughout the US. Modeled after what Laura did locally, she has partnered bike builders with homes for at-risk youth to rebuild damaged motorcycles. Through rebuilding the motorcycles, the kids are learning to rebuild their lives. Powerful stuff…
